Okay, so this post is probably not what you’re thinking! For the last few weeks we have been talking about what brides have told us they wish they had done differently when planning their wedding. No, no one has told us they wish they hadn’t have been a bridezilla! Quite the opposite, actually! Well, sort of.
Ashley shared these thoughts with us:
“I wish I had worried less about trying to be the easy care free, low maintenance bride and really let myself enjoy the people trying to spoil me. I wish I had relished in the glam a little bit more ‘over the top.’ “
We’ve never even thought about it like that! We’ve been blessed with incredible brides through the years. Seriously ladies, you have no idea how much you are loved by your wedding vendors (especially photographers!) for being the easy, care free and low maintenance bride. THANK YOU! Something that Reid always tells our brides though, is that your wedding day is the one day you are allowed, and encouraged, to be selfish. Not in a bridezilla kind of way, but in a way that allows you to bask in the glory and beauty of your day. To let friends, family and professionals surround you and love on you. To relax, be pampered, and have time to reflect on preparing to marry the man of your dreams.
Another bride, Abrea, said this:
The only thing I wish I would have done differently would have been be a better bride before the wedding– I felt super awkward at the showers being the center of attention, and I wish I would have relaxed and just had more fun.
She makes such a good point! From the time your fiancé places the ring on your finger, until you make your grand exit from your reception, it is an Experience. (Hence why there is an “Experience” page on our website 😉 Your friends and family are thrilled for you, they love you, and they want to make you feel loved. So enjoy it! Don’t feel bad that people are doing nice things for you, feel grateful! And then send them all pretty thank-you cards. From a local small business. Because small businesses are awesome.
If you’re a bride who feels a little uncomfortable being in the spotlight, you’re not alone! Just remember that the people pampering you are doing it because they love you, and you deserve it! Be thankful, be kind, and be free to enjoy yourself during this once-in-a-lifetime experience!
