Chad & Stephanie | Married

The room full of conversation and laughter suddenly became completely silent. The sound of those 4 simple words make the butterflies in Stephanie’s stomach go into an uproar- “He’s ready for you.” She had spent the last 2 hours perfecting her hair and makeup, lacing the back of her long white dress, and applying the final touches with her sentimental pieces of jewelry. For both Chad and Stephanie, though, the last 2 hours were but a mere blink of an eye in the time spent preparing for this moment. 40 years, to be exact. 40 years of waiting, praying, and hoping that someday they would find that person who was worth the wait. 40 years of waiting was over. It was time for Stephanie to see her groom.

It was the hottest day of the year so far, with humidity you could cut with a knife. She hardly noticed, though, as she walked to the sanctuary where the love of her life was not-so-patiently waiting for her. Their whole lives had led them to this moment, and it was almost too much to bear. Stephanie opened the large wooden doors, felt the cool air on her face, took a deep breath, then started to feel her eyes tearing up. There he was. Standing at the front of the alter with his back to her, waiting for his bride to come to him. She took another deep breath and began to walk, her dress swooshing back and forth.

When she reached the end of the aisle, she mustered up enough strength to say “Okay baby, you can turn around now.” Chad’s knees became weak and he felt as though he could met onto the floor right then and there at the sight of his beautiful bride. Tears filled their eyes as they embraced each other. The day they had been waiting for was finally here.

We will never forget sitting across the table from Chad & Stephanie for the first time, listening to their story of patience and prayers, and hearing these words: “I’m glad God made me wait. If I had gotten married years ago, it wouldn’t have been Chad. He’s perfect.”

Chad & Stephanie, we are thankful with all of our hearts for the lifelong friends we have found in you. You, individually and as a couple, are inspiring to us and we love you. Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Peterson!
