Alex & Stephanie | A Marlsgate Plantation Wedding

Alex arrived at the plantation where his best friends were waiting for him to start getting ready. He is known for his quick wit and comical personality, but today was different. Today he was quiet, serious, and a bit solemn. The nerves were almost too much. In only a few minutes, he would finally get to lay eyes on his bride. The woman he had been waiting for his whole life was about to grace him with her bridal presence and it was all he could do to hold it together.

Meanwhile across the yard, Stephanie was finding comfort in endless amounts of caffeine and laughter with her closest friends. She was of course nervous too, but it manifested in a completely different way. She was surprisingly calm, but couldn’t stop thinking of Alex. What would he think of her dress? Her hair? Would he cry? Would he want to kiss her? She continued to sip her White Chocolate Caramel Mocha while she pondered on what was to come. And then it was time. Time to forget about the planning, the check lists, and the 100+ degree temperatures outside and make the anticipated walk to see her groom.

As soon as Alex heard Stephanie begin to walk toward him, his emotion became overwhelming. One tear slipped from his eye, then another, and another. What seemed like minutes passed by, and he heard a faint whistle. Alex turned around and let out an uncontrollable squeal. Stephanie was breathtaking, and had never looked so happy. All he could do was hold her and kiss her. The love of his life was in his arms and he never wanted to let her go.

When the ceremony arrived, Alex along with over 100 of their friends and family eagerly waited for Stephanie to make her grand entrance from the end of the long driveway. As soon as the flower girl reached the top of the stairs, the wedding bells literally began to ring. Stephanie’s father and step-father helped her out of the town car and walked her to the end of the long aisle. Her entrance was perfectly fitting. Regal, elegant, and graceful. The bells continued to ring and the music played. Although Alex had spent the last 2 hours with Stephanie, taking in all of her bridal beauty, his emotion for his bride was not lacking.

Their ceremony was a beautiful picture of Christ’s love for His church. Alex and Stephanie’s faith has been the foundation of their relationship, so it was important to them to center their marriage around Him through their ceremony. Their ceremony wouldn’t be complete, though, without a little humor. Stephanie showed off her mad multitasking skills when she said “I do” while swatting off a pesky horsefly! Was this is metaphor of sorts? No matter how many distractions come their way in marriage, they will fight them off and keep their focus on each other? Thanks, for the life lesson, horsefly!

Just like any relationship, Alex and Stephanie have encountered their fair share of trials along the journey, but they have continued to grow stronger in their faith and stronger together. They are the kind of people who you can’t be around for more than a few seconds without laughing. Their joy is infectious, and their kindness is refreshing. Needless to say, we feel beyond blessed to call them friends, and to have witnessed the beginning of their life as Mr. and Mrs. Plafcan. We love you, Alex and Stephanie!
