Preparing for Marriage | Part IV

Happy Monday! Phew, what a weekend! We shot our first double header (a wedding Saturday and Sunday), and it could absolutely not have gone any better! The rain only interrupted our timeline one time, but everything worked out smoothly and perfectly. And it even cooled off a little bit! That’s a pretty rare occurrence in June here in Arkansas, so we’re not complaining.

We talked the whole way home about our favorite parts of the weddings, things people said that made our hearts smile, and threw in an occasional “my feet!” We just thought our feet were sore after one wedding… wow! Really, though. How did we ever get so lucky to work with the couples that we do? You guys seriously light up our lives! We got back home around 9:30 last night, unloaded all of the equipment from the car, fed Kobe who was screaming like he hadn’t eaten in days (he’s such a drama queen), and finished backing up all of the photos from the day. Our bodies were aching, but our brains were buzzing. We desperately needed to shut off our minds, stop talking and try to go to sleep. We both have day jobs during the week, and needed to be able to function on Monday morning!

But as we were lying there in the pitch dark and quiet room, knowing had crucial a good night’s rest was, we couldn’t stop laughing. We were laughing partly from pure exhaustion, partly from the emotional high the weddings gave us, and partly because we were just happy to be doing life together.

I (Brittany) will be totally honest with you that I am horrible at making work my first priority. Deadlines rule me. But as last night showed me, work should never, ever be more important than your spouse. Yeah, physically exhausted doesn’t even begin to describe how we feel today. And yeah, emotionally fulfilled doesn’t even begin to describe us either. That’s what matters. We laughed until we cried (big nasty tears, not little puny ones), and it was one of the sweetest times we have spent together in a while.

So if we could offer you any piece of advice today as you either prepare to marry your sweetheart, or already are… don’t ever take spontaneous moments like that for granted, don’t ever put work before them, and let yourself laugh until you cry. It’s good for the soul 🙂

Have a fabulous Monday!

loved this piece! I hope I conveyed my pure pleasure and appreciation for all your efforts Saturday! Cannot wait to see all of the pictures! I will be recommending you not only for the actual photos you produce but because of the connections you forge with your customers! Love both of you!
