2015 | Behind the Scenes

This blog post could make us look like we’re super cool, or we could show what it’s usually like working with us 🙂 We made a point to capture more behind-the-scenes photos of each other this year, and it turned into something really fun! If you were in front of our cameras in the last 6 months or so, you know exactly what’s coming.

It’s no secret that Reid is very detail-oriented and won’t let a stray hair or crooked tie (crooked anything for that matter) go unnoticed. Brittany tends to get so wrapped up in the moment of shooting portraits and chatting with our couples that she misses things like stray hairs. Never fear, Reid will come to the rescue! And oh boy, when your hair, tie or shirt sleeve needs to be rescued, nothing will stop him from saving the day. As quickly as possible. While Brittany is shooting. Thus, #wheresreid was born! Reid is like a photographer ninja. He’s everywhere, all the time, in the blink of an eye. Okay, photographer ninja is a little cheesy (take a wild guess which one of us came up with that one), and ninjas aren’t usually seen. Sometimes Reid is saving that stray hair’s day, but sometimes he just wants closer shot of the magic happening between the couple. Or is out for an afternoon stroll.

Instead of the cheesy photographer ninja, we’ll just give him another hashtag: #mrfixit.

One of our favorite things about our job is seeing the joy on our clients’ faces when we show them how great they look on camera. Not just our two-legged clients, either…

Reid gets especially excited to show off his hard work, because he’ll do anything for the perfect shot!

Over time, Reid’s #mrfixit skills have rubbed off on Brittany and she has learned to be more of a perfectionist.

Some of Brittany’s favorite activities include: Charades…

Inadvertently dressing like the bridesmaids…

Focusing hard on her Expodisc shots…

Returning runaway dogs…

And keeping our clients thoroughly entertained!

We’ve gotten to shoot in some cool locations and in some beautiful light this year!

We can’t talk about 2015 without mentioning two really important people. It all started at our first (and only) bridal show. Makenzie met us at our booth, showed our website to Jack, they met us for coffee, hired us for their wedding, and the rest is history. Jack is the mastermind behind our Experience video. We also had the privilege of working alongside him and Makenzie at Layne & Maddy’s wedding. Then, this fall we got to shoot their First Anniversary session! If you’re friends with these crazy kids (which probably a lot of you are!) you know how lucky you are!

We’ve had snowball fights, and humidity so high our lenses fogged up.

Who says test shots have to be serious?

We learned a few things this year, like that the Two Rivers Trail is quite entertaining around Halloween…

And that cows like pictures too…

As do horses…

And even our servicemen can get locked out of the State Capitol.

We really do get to work with the most incredible people. They would do anything for us. Like tiptoe across boulders in their dress clothes.

Every now and then we remember to get a shot of ourselves together!

2016, here we come 🙂

  1. Mom says:
